The Slovak nationa dish "halušky" is also prepared from potatoes.Halušky ( potato dumplings) are so popular in Slovakia that there is an annual halušky festival in a small village called Turecká. It has been called since 1990. The ingedients you need for halušky are:
6 big potatoes 200 grams flour 200 grams bacon 250 grams bryndza (sheep cheese) salt Preparation: You start preparing halušky with grating washed and peeled potatoes.Then add flour, salt and mix. Bring a pot of salted water to boil. Drop the dough into boiling water. You can use a special halušky maker or a cutting board and knife to cut off small chunks into the water. Use a slotted spoon to fish out halušky from water. Chop bacon into pieces and fry. Mix bryndza with milk. Put bryndza and bacon on the top. You can serve it with milk.
